Switzerland
The last group game of the Swiss national team at Euro 2020 against Turkey was the most-watched TV sporting event in 2021.
Not the round of 16 against France or the quarterfinals against Spain, but the last European Championship group match of the Swiss national team against Turkey was the most-watched TV sports program last year.
Average 1.506 million Viewers followed the 3-1 victory against Turkey on SRF Zwei in June. This corresponded to a market share of around 76 percent, according to figures published by Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen SRF.
The broadcast has been in the all-time hit list since 2013 (previous ratings cannot be compared). 5 and was the show on the SRF channels with the best ratings of all in 2021. The year before, exceptionally, it was not a sports broadcast but a main edition of the Tagesschau that provided the best value.
Olympic Games not in the top ten
Only slightly fewer spectators tuned in last year in the round of 16 against the French (1.447 million) and in the quarterfinals against the Spaniards (1.449) than when Switzerland played Turkey . The most-watched non-EM program in sport follows in 6th place with the men’s downhill run at the Alpine World Ski Championships in Cortina (872,000 viewers).
Notable: In the top ten of the year’s hit list failed to broadcast the Tokyo Olympics live. This is also due to the time difference and the TV-unfriendly competition times.
