Three Western Cape initiates have died during summer initiation season in the province.
The Western Cape Provincial Initiation Coordinating Committee (WCPICC) said that criminal cases have been filed with the police and were under investigation following the deaths.
This past summer season, an estimated 1 500 initiates completed the rites of passage at initiation schools in the Cape Metro, Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, Garden Route, Overberg, and West Coast.
