Real-life stories have the power to offer a unique opportunity to explore the complexities of human existence. Nicholas Retys life story is a prime example of a mans celebration of life. In his book Choice and Chance, written with his honest voice, he takes readers on an inspirational journey to seek a more meaningful life. Self-publishing and book marketing company ReadersMagnet will exhibit the book at the 2024 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, which will occur on April 20-21, 2024, at the University of Southern California campus in Los Angeles, USA.

The Los Angeles Times Festival of Books is one of the most significant literary festivals in the country, gathering storytellers, artists, and publishers. The premier book event is held annually in April to showcase the beauty of literature, arts, and culture, bringing together the best books and activities for bookworms of all ages.

Nicholas Rety was born and educated in Hungary before completing his high school education in Somerset, England. During the tumultuous times of 1944-45, he witnessed the siege of Budapest by the Russian Army and its aftermath firsthand. In 1947, he moved to England, where he faced challenging years in London after leaving school in 1949.

Despite his challenges, Nicholas worked full-time in a Fleet Street advertising agency before becoming a delivery truck driver for a Mayfair wine merchant. All the while, he attended night school to prepare for entry into medical school. His efforts paid off, and he was awarded a university scholarship.

After graduating as a doctor, Nicholas served as a Regimental Medical Officer in the Canadian Army. He then undertook specialty training in urological surgery in Edmonton, Alberta, and subsequently moved to Vernon, British Columbia, where he practiced for 31 years before retiring in 1999.
