Night curfew in Tripura from Monday; Theatres, parks, bars to operate at 50% capacity

Agartala, Jan 09: Amid rise in Covid cases driven by Omicron variant, the Tripura government on Sunday announced night curfew in the state from 9 pm to 5 am starting Monday. The night curfew will be in place till January 20.

  • According to the new rules, cinema halls, sports complexes and stadium, entertainment parks, bars will operate with 50% capacity.
  • Gyms and swimming pools will be allowed to function at 1/3rd capacity in Tripura.
  • No public meeting will be allowed in open spaces.
  • All standalone shops and commercial establishments including shopping malls, complexes, beauty parlours, barber shops may remain open only from 6 am to 8:30 pm while medicine shops, however, shall remain open at all times.
  • All shop owners have to ensure social distancing and wearing of masks among the customers while bazaar committees should deploy volunteers to ensure social distancing.
  • Restaurants and dhabas will operate only up to 8:30 pm with 50 per cent of their total capacity.
  • Restaurants in hotels will operate up to 8:30 pm for outside guests with 50 per cent of their total capacity but in-house guests can avail services at all times.
  • The number of people allowed inside the restaurants and dhabas will not be more than one person per 36 sq. ft. of the indoor area including shop owners and their service personnel.
  • Shop owners must display the number of persons permissible for entry prominently at the entry gate.
  • No fair and exhibition shall be organized and super spreading events such as Saras Mela should be cancelled.
  • Tirthamukh Mela may be organized by strictly adhering to COVID-appropriate behaviour.
  • People should avoid unnecessary movement outside the home or workplace.
  • Marriage function will be allowed with the presence of a maximum of 100 people and the funeral shall not include more than 20 people.
