This is insulin resistance, which took Sofia a year of wandering around different doctors’ offices to establish it, and that something was wrong was first noticed by her friend with whom she lived in Miami.

– It was very obvious that I had a problem, but not to me but to my roommate at the time. America. My weight gain happened rapidly so my brain didn’t register it at all, I didn’t even notice it in the mirror. From the moment I came to Miami, I will never forget it, 23 days have passed when a friend I lived with said to me: Sophie, I think you have gained a little weight – Sofia recalled on the show.

– I tend to wear wide things because I don’t like something to squeeze me, and I told her: No, it’s nothing. Then I stood on the scales and saw that he showed 73 kilograms, and I arrived in America at 63. In just 23 days I gained ten kilograms! I thought the scales were broken and I borrowed a neighbor and she showed the same. That’s when I realized that something was wrong because I hadn’t changed anything drastically in my diet. I ate two scoops of ice cream a day and ate in restaurants, and it is known that Americans use a lot of butter and that food has more additives, but I did not eat enough to gain ten kilograms – said Sofia in the mentioned show.

She then returned to Belgrade and immediately started a diet that used to give results, but which did not work at all at that time.

– A month I kept a diet and – nothing. I changed my diet and – again nothing. I then went to a nutritionist and in about twenty days I lost only 1.2 kg. Your psyche suffers the most, it’s a fight with windmills. You do everything and there are no results. After a while, I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I got up unhappy and went to bed unhappy and hungry. The doctors told me for months that everything was fine. I wandered for almost a year – said Sofija Rajović.

As she explained, none of the doctors even mentioned her insulin resistance.

– I had horrible attacks for sweets. At one point I caught myself eating a pound of ice cream, and I still feel like eating. People don’t understand how difficult it is. I finally came to the doctor who recommended the OGTT test and then I found out that I was suffering from that condition and received therapy, but what scared me the most was that I had to cut down on sweets. My doctor’s approach was wonderful, he told me: Okay, watch what you eat, drink medicine, and when you really want to eat something sweet – the actress added.
