He focuses on root cause failure analysis of ball and roller bearings used in industrial and automotive applications, as well as inspecting bearings for quality assurance and reverse engineering purposes. Mr. Lorentz documents any component damage observed and conclusions in detailed reports generated for NTN application engineers.
Prior to his recruitment at NTN Bearing Corporation, Mr. Lorentz earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology. His decision to pursue a career in engineering was largely motivated by his lifelong interest in how things work, and science and mathematics. In order to remain up to date with the latest developments in his field, Mr. Lorentz maintains affiliations with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, the Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers, the National Society of Professional Engineers, and the Illinois Society of Professional Engineers.
In recognition of his significant contributions to NTN Bearing Corporation of America, Mr. Lorentz has received a number of accolades including the President’s Award, Certificate of Merit Award, and the 100 Grander “Beyond the Call” Award. He is particularly proud to have played a central role in the final analysis of NTN bearings tested and approved by a major manufacturer of highly regarded portable oxygen concentrators. Additionally, he is honored to have also been included in Strathmore’s Who’s Who 2002 – 2003 9th Edition and The Global Directory of Who’s Who 2004 – 2005 Edition while at NTN. Looking toward the future, Mr. Lorentz intends to settle into retirement performing volunteer work while continuing to provide his engineering expertise in a consultative capacity.
