Pixel Watch 3 can only be replaced, not repaired

Maybe someday Google will have a repair program for watches

While the Pixel Watch has looked beautiful since its introduction, it has one fatal flaw: it can’t be repaired. If your Pixel Watch breaks, Google will have to replace it.

This has been the case since the first Pixel Watch, and it’s a bit disappointing that over three generations, Google has only managed to make the device larger instead of making any strides toward screen repairs.

In Canada, the Pixel Watch 3 starts at $479 for the 41mm version but can ramp up to $669 if you want the largest model with both Wi-Fi and LTE connections.

You can get monthly coverage for $5 per month or $120 upfront for two years. If you pay for this, most broken watches will be replaced for $39. Some with more intense damage can be replaced for $59. If you lose your device and you can’t locate it with the Google Find My network, you can also pay $59 for a replacement. You can read the full details of the Preferred Care program here.

Looking over at iFixit, there are a few guides for replacing the device’s screen, battery and vibration motor. A quick Google search found a few retailers in Canada that appear to offer battery cells for Pixel Watch units. That being said, the Pixel Watch one received a 4/10 repairability score, so I wouldn’t say these repairs are easy.
