‘Poo like a goddess’: Life coach in Bali wants to dump taboos surrounding women’s digestive issues

A life coach in Bali says she’s hoping to help women “poo like goddesses” by overcoming digestive issues through a detox program, with a debut event scheduled for next week in Ubud.

The women-focused workshop, titled “Poo Like a Goddess,” will take place at The Yoga Barn on Oct. 7, as part of a series of events exploring “wisdom women should have learned in school.” Each session cost IDR150K (US$10.49)

The event host, Jodie Louise, told Coconuts that this workshop is tailored to women because of their different digestive system, which “changes with our hormones.”

“My goal with the event is to support women to stop operating like men, to discover how they can eat with their cycle to overcome digestive issues and learn tools to feel comfortable in their bellies so they can poo like goddesses,” Jodie Louise said.

Promotional posts about the event have drawn some ridicule on social media, but Jodie Louise said she hopes the attention would eventually help make digestive issues less of a taboo topic.

“People always laugh about poo and farting, but it’s my intention to make it something women don’t have to hide,” Jodie Louise said.

“It’s a normal thing we all do and secretly love to talk about.”
