The Governor of Rivers State, Siminalayi Fubara, has asked residents to pray for his administration to finish well.
This is as the governor accused his political opponents of targeting his supporters, including traditional leaders and significant officials, in a bid to undermine his administration.
During the inauguration of the renovated Government Girls’ Secondary School in the Ahoada East local government area on Friday, Fubara asserted that His Royal Majesty, Eze Ekpeye Logbo Kevin Anugbom, and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi were arrested and held for four months due to their loyalty to his government.
The governor further claimed that his Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, was declared wanted by the Nigerian Police Force as part of an effort to diminish his authority as governor.
Fubara called upon the residents of Rivers State to pray for his administration and for the availability of funds to complete ongoing projects. He reaffirmed his dedication to governance despite the challenges he was facing.
Acknowledging the contributions of Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Fubara announced intentions to enhance the status of traditional leadership in the region.
Regarding the internal roads in Ahoada East, the governor indicated that the previously awarded contract would be revoked and re-awarded to ensure effective implementation.
He also expressed appreciation to the people of Ahoada for their steadfast support while advising them to avoid actions that could provoke hostility from adversaries.
The arrests of Eze Ekpeye Logbo, Kevin Anugbom, and High Chief Cassid Ikebidi occurred following the murder of the Divisional Police Officer of Ahoada East, Superintendent of Police Bako Angbashim, in September 2023.
Additionally, Ehie, along with several others, was declared wanted by the Police in relation to the explosion that occurred at the Rivers State House of Assembly on October 29, 2023.
