Journalist for TV and print media, Silvia Tortora (born in Rome on November 14, 1962) is dead tonight in a Roman clinic at the age of 59. Daughter of the well-known journalist and TV presenter Enzo Tortora and his second wife, Miranda Fantacci, she worked with Giovanni Minoli on Mixer and then on “La storia siamo noi”, making a series of great interviews, and since 2004, always with Minoli, to the program ‘We are history’. For this program he made various episodes concerning Mia Martini, Renato Vallanzasca, The Earthquake in San Giuliano di Puglia, Francesco Totti, Vendute (story of baby prostitutes), Once upon a time Portobello, Corrado (the great inventor of the Corrida), La first victim (story of Luigi Calabresi), and We just have to Benigni (story of the Tuscan comedian).

The memory of Giovanni Minoli

“A piece of news that really left me speechless, he was a very nice person, cheerful and helpful as well as an excellent professional”. So Giovanni Minoli as soon as he heard the news of Silvia Tortora’s death, of which he most recently remembers the program “Big – The way of the heart, the way of reason”, conducted on Rai 3 starting from 2009 with Annalisa Bruchi. “It was a show in which interviews were made with a double key: the personal and psychological one and the political one. She did the interviews in a political key. She participated for two seasons, the third she didn’t want to do it anymore, it had become difficult even to relate to her, it was as if she had withdrawn from life, probably for personal reasons related to her family “, explains Minoli.

Tortora worked at the weekly Epoca from 1988 to 1997. In 1999 he won the silver ribbon at the Taormina Festival as “best film subject” with Maurizio Zaccaro’s film, ‘A respectable man’. In 2002 she edited the book ‘Cara Silvia’, published by Marsilio, which collects the letters that her father Enzo wrote her from prison. In 2006, again with Marsilio, he published ‘Bambini bad’. She was married since 1990 to French actor Philippe Leroy, with whom she had two children, Philippe and Michelle.
