HACKED mum and daughter have been laid at their final resting place.
Community members flocked to the Foundation of God Christian Fellowship in Polokong near Sebokeng, to bid farewell to gogo Maria Tsotetsi and her daughter Annah Tsotetsi.
Gogo Maria (88) and Annah (66) were laid to rest on Saturday, 17 August at Vanderbijlpark Cemetery. They lost their lives after they were both hacked at their home in Evaton West, in the Vaal, on Wednesday, 7 August.
Maria and Annah were allegedly robbed by a woman and her alleged boyfriend who came to them and asked for an R800 loan from Annah, as she runs a mashonisa business.
Speakers at the funeral, including Pastor Andries Mokoena, asked for safety from police as crime is high in townships and everyday people are killed for nothing. Thomas Tshabalala said the loss of his wife has been devastating and he was trying to prepare himself to accept that she is no more.

“I regret going to the bank leaving the two scrupulous criminals in my house. My wife’s killers pretended to loan money but she refused, stating tha she couldn’t lend her money because she wasn’t a regular client. But the woman begged her.
“As I went out, I met a young man sitting outside who said he was accompanying the young woman to our house. I left my family with the two young people as I went to the mall opposite my house,” he said.
Thomas said his wife and mother-in-law were brutally murdered.
“My wife’s jaws were broken, with her teeth all over, and gogo had serious wounds on her head. Their bodies were dragged to another room, and I heard the scream of my partner asking for help while gogo had already lost her life. The two young people I left in the house with them were nowhere to be found,” he said.
Teboho Tsotetsi said that police have not yet arrested the suspects. He said he prays that they do get arrested and be punished harshly for what they did, as they have put the family in serious pain.
Gauteng police spokeswoman Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said police are investigating a case of murder and attempted murder. The attempted murder case soon changed after Annah died in the hospital.
