Štúdie naznačujú, aký interval medzi očkovaním a infekciou je proti omikronu lepší

Výskum z Japonska naznačuje, že očkovanie proti covidu, po ktorom o mesiace neskôr nasledovala prelomová infekcia, ponúka väčšiu ochranu proti omikronu ako tesne rozmiestnená injekcia a infekcia. Prelomovými infekciami sa rozumejú nákazy koronavírusom po očkovaní.

Krajiny s inými variantmi majú výhodu

Zistenie podľa časopisu Nature naznačuje, že krajiny, ktoré koncom roka 2021 zaznamenali veľké množstvo iných ako omikronových infekcií, majú výhodu, pretože rok 2022 prichádza s novým variantom. Štúdia ešte nebola recenzovaná.

Populácia mnohých krajín získala imunitu kombináciou očkovania a infekcie s množstvom variantov. Obyvateľstvo Japonska je však chránené najmä mRNA vakcínami.

Spoluautor štúdie Takeshi Arashiro, výskumník infekčných chorôb v japonskom Národnom inštitúte pre infekčné choroby v Tokiu, a jeho kolegovia chceli pochopiť, či vďaka prevažne jednozdrojovej imunite v krajine bude populácia obzvlášť náchylná na omikron.

„Doteraz mala krajina niekoľko prelomových prípadov, ale obávame sa, že akonáhle bude omikron vo vysokom prenose v Japonsku, môžeme vidieť úplne iný obraz,“ hovorí Arashiro.
