Tennis player Andy Murray has stinky shoes (and wedding ring!) back

Andy Murray has his tennis shoes and wedding ring back, a day after he confessed that he lost both while airing it.

“Believe it or not,” the tennis player says in a Instagram video while sniffing the insoles, “they’re still grumbling, but the shoes are back and the wedding ring is back. I’m back in my wife’s favor.”

Murray was in trouble because of the smell of sweat from his footwear. After training in California, he had decided to air the shoes outside his hotel room, he explained in a video yesterday. “It’s 39 degrees here and my tennis shoes were clammy, so I decided to air them under my car overnight.”

The next day, Murray discovered they were disappeared. Shortly afterwards he realized that his wedding ring was also gone: he had tied it to his shoelaces.

“I always tie my wedding ring to my shoes when I play because I can’t play when I hold him by my hand,” the Scot explained in a video call. “So my wedding ring was also stolen. You will understand that I have fallen into disfavor with my wife.”

“I have since bought new shoes at a local sports store. Not the end of the world, but not ideal either,” said the athlete in his video. “But I would really appreciate it if anyone has any idea where everything is and how we can get it back.”

An day later Murray can already bring good news : his possessions are back. The tennis player hardly gives details about how he got everything back. “I made some calls today and talked to the hotel security and stuff.” It is therefore still unclear who took the shoes and how they returned.

Now that he can resume his training on his worn-in shoes and his wife has reassured, Murray can focus again at the Indian Wells tournament, where he will face Frenchman Mannarino in the first round today. He ends his thank you video with an enthusiastic: “Let’s go!”
