The airport at La Palma has been closed again due to large ash clouds after the big volcanic eruption, reports AFP .
Thick ash clouds from a volcanic eruption on the Spanish canary island of La Palma , has resulted in the island’s airport now being closed for the second time in less than a month.
– The airport is currently out of operation, a spokesman for the Spanish airport operator Aena told AFP on Thursday morning.
There is no information yet on when the airport will reopen. The tracks must first be cleaned of ash, according to Aena.
The volcanic eruption in La Palma started on September 19 and in total more than 6000 of the island’s inhabitants have been evacuated from their homes.
