As well as producing romantic relationships, Strictly Come Dancing can also be the start of some firm friendships. The celebrities and their professional partners spend countless hours training together so it’s not surprising that bonds form quickly.
Graziano Di Prima recently made it clear that he is already besotted with his partner and our OK! columnist Judi Love. I mean, who can blame him? She’s the best!
But for some couples, the gruelling training hours and constant one on one time together can lead to escalating tensions.
Here are some of the biggest fallouts and feuds from the show over the years.

There were rumours that Amy Dowden, who will miss next week’s show after testing positive for Covid-19, and Red Dwarf star Danny John-Jules didn’t get along while appearing on Strictly Come Dancing.
During the 2018 series, it was alleged that the pair had had a disagreement in the dance studio where Danny reportedly “shouted and swore”.
Amy dismissed claims the actor had “bullied” her, insisting at the time: “Things did get a little bit intense the other day in rehearsals. Do you know what? We took a half-hour break and then got straight to it. I never felt bullied or threatened by Danny.”
However, Amy later appeared alone on It Takes Two following their departure from the show. Host Zoe Ball addressed Danny’s absence, saying: “Sadly I’m afraid Danny has decided not to join us tonight but I’m delighted to have the gorgeous Amy here tonight.”
Amy burst into tears when a montage of clips of the pair together was shown on screen but insisted: “I’m so proud of Danny. Watching his journey – he is such a talented performer and I know and believe he belongs on the stage.”
Danny said at the time: “I’m a man who says what he means and means what he says, my conscience is clear over all of it. It seems to be turning into a vendetta. For some reason, some don’t want me to be successful on Strictly.”
Aliona Vilani and Greg Wallace
Gregg was first to leave the show in 2014 and the Masterchef judge has insisted he would have done better if he’d been paired with a different professional.
“I didn’t particularly enjoy Strictly. I love dancing, but if I were paired with somebody who liked me then I would have done better,” he explained.
When asked if he enjoyed taking part in the show he said: “No. No. No. I didn’t enjoy it in any way, shape or form. Well, apart from the last day on the final.”
He added: “I really enjoyed dancing on the final and I enjoyed the practising and the physical side of it, I liked that, but performing something that I wasn’t good at? No. I hated it. Absolutely hated it.
“I was so bad my face broke out in cold sores, that’s how stressed I was! it was incredible, I’d never experienced anything like it. I was in tears on the second week.”
Meanwhile, Aliona made her feelings clear by retweeting a number of messages at the time, including one that read “could someone please give Aliona a decent partner next year”.

Anastacia and Brendan had a famously fiery relationship during the 2016 series of the show.
Brendan insisted at the time that the pair got along well but admitted to them both being “strong minded individuals.
He said: “We’ve definitely had some conversations, I won’t lie about that.
“I think we’re both two very strong-minded individuals in a process, but we get along very, very well.”
However, they seemed to be no love lost when singer Anastacia admitted she hadn’t kept in touch with him following her departure from the show.
“We don’t have that kind of connection. It was just for the show,” she bluntly concluded.
Brendan Cole and Lulu
Anastasia isn’t the only celebrity that Brendan has butted heads with while being his partner. He described singer Lulu as his “worst ever partner” and called her “not a particularly nice person”, but concluded “but she felt the same about me, so it’s alright.”
Lulu confirmed that they weren’t a dancing match made in heaven. “I worked with someone with whom I wasn’t really compatible, so that was very hard,” she admitted.
“I put a brave face on for the cameras and then cried when I got home.”
Brendan Cole and Fiona Phillips
Brendan’s partner Fiona in 2005 was equally displeased with him. In fact, when it was announced he had been axed from the cast in 2018, she called it “karma”.
“Brendan was a real bugger, actually,” presenter Fiona said. “He wasn’t very nice. He was really naughty. He’s not on the show now. Karma indeed. It works its way every time.”
She also voiced her regret at ever taking part in the show saying: “I should never have done it.”
Artem Chigvintsev and Fern Britton
Former This Morning presenter Fern didn’t have many nice things to say about her 2012 partner Artem.
During rehearsals, she claimed that he “would look at my feet and just kick me or shove me…” before jokingly telling her to “go home before I kill you”.
“We did love each other for a moment or two but he wasn’t charm personified,” she explained of her experience. “I did kind of enjoy it but it was grim at the same time.”
Artem, who now appears on Dancing with the Stars US, disagreed with his 2012 partner’s memories.
“I believe I treated Fern with respect and genuine care, and these claims about me are the opposite of everything I believe in and the person I am.”
He continued, “I cannot imagine what has prompted such statements which come as a shock to me. I just want to thank all my fans and friends for their support and belief in me.”
Oti Mabuse and Kelvin Fletcher
Having a fiery relationship backstage can sometimes prove to be invaluable on the dance floor. This is certainly true for 2019 Champions Kelvin and Oti.
The former Emmerdale actor admitted that during one tough week of training, “It’s been a hard week. A hard week. We came to blows a few times…”
Giovanni Pernice and Michelle Visage
Michelle Visage and Giovanni Pernice were reported to have butted heads on numerous occasions when partnered up in 2019.
The Ru Paul’s Drag Race explained at the time: “We’re both Italian. We’re both intense. We’re both Virgos. So there’s a perfectionist level that’s really ridiculous between us.
“He wants it quicker than I’m able to provide it.“So Mondays and Tuesdays is a lot of us at each other’s throats. By the end of the week, we’re totally in love with each other again and it’s fine.
“I’ve never walked out. We just like to fight. We like to fight it out, but it’s just that’s all in love. Our relationship is very fiery. It is weird, but it’s perfect.”
