Plans for a zero-emission version of the Peugeot 308 were unveiled last year by Peugeot’s chief product officer Jerome Michelon. More information is now available on the future direct rival for Volkswagen ID.3, Nissan Leaf and Renault Megane E-Tech .
The new electric 308 would be called the e-308. It will be built on the new platform dedicated to zero-emission vehicles developed by the French manufacturer. This means that the aesthetic changes will be minor, as in the case of the 208 and 2008 models, which already have pure electric versions.
Peugeot representatives say that the new e-308 will offer a range of 400 kilometers. This value will put it on the same level as the future compact Tesla model
At the same time, the battery version of the 308 will have an increased power compared to the e-208. A single electric motor mounted in front will produce 156 hp and 270 Nm of torque. Power will be transmitted to the front axle
Energy will be stored in a 400 V battery, mounted under the floor. It will have 50 kWh and a fast charging capacity of 100 kW. The new chemical technology of the NMC811 battery will allow an efficiency of 12.4 kWh per 100 kilometers traveled.
Despite the larger and probably heavier battery, the weight will be about 1,600 kg . The new e-308 will thus be just as difficult with the plug-in hybrid version. The luggage compartment volume will be 361 liters, in the case of hatchback in PHEV variant , and less than 412 liters
Production of the new Peugeot e-308 will most likely begin in July 2023. The first deliveries will be made shortly thereafter.
