BELGRADE – The Belgrade Philharmonic is saying goodbye tonight with a concert instead of a commemoration from its longtime director Ivan Tasovac in Kolarac’s endowment.
Just before the start of the concert, the chief conductor of the Belgrade Philharmonic Gabriel Feltz told the audience that the orchestra would say goodbye to Tasovac with music, what he loved most in life, instead of a minute of silence.
Then the Philharmonic played a five-minute “Waltz” by Dmitry Shostakovich in honor of Tasovac.
While the orchestra was playing, the Philharmonic’s production team developed a banner in front of the audience, which read “BGF ?? (likes) TASU “.
In the continuation of the program, the Philharmonic Orchestra will play Shostakovich’s Concerto for Cello and Orchestra no. 1 “and his Symphony no. 10 “.
The concert is attended by the Prime Minister Ana Brnabić and the Minister of Culture and Information Maja Gojković.
Pianist, director of the Belgrade Philharmonic and former Minister of Culture and Information Ivan Tasovac passed away on September 29 in Belgrade at the age of 55.
A book of mourning was opened in the hall of Kolarac, in which many visitors signed up, including Princess Jelisaveta Karađorđević.
