This £36 patent trench will give you a Chanel-inspired look for £11.5k less

When Chanel debuted its Shiny Calfskin Coat, £11,610 here, in its autumn/winter 23 catwalk, it was one of the stand out pieces that we knew would be the perfect addition to any wardrobe.

However, coming in at almost £12k means the vinyl-look trench coat was firmly on our fashion inspo boards rather than in our baskets, and we’ve been on the lookout for an affordable alternative ever since.

Thankfully, there’s no shortage of budget-friendly versions online right now, and we particularly love this Nasty Gal Faux Vinyl Longline Coat, £36 here (was £99), which has similar details to Chanel’s one whilst saving you more than £11.5k.

Just like the luxury version, Nasty Gal’s vinyl coat has a longline, structured silhouette and patent black finish, as well as subtle seaming details that make it look far more expensive than it is.

Although Chanel’s vinyl trench is made from real leather, Nasty Gal’s version is made from faux vinyl and has a slightly longer fit, finishing around mid-shin rather than just below the knee like the designer one does.

Boohoo’s Premium Vinyl Oversized Trench Coat, £48.75 here (was £65), looks luxe whilst still having an affordable price tag, and comes in both black and blue so you can inject a little colour into your autumn wardrobe. With its oversized fit and structured shape, it gives any designer version a run for its money, despite the fact it’ll set you back less than £50.

You can style your vinyl trench with everything from jeans and a jumper to a midi dress and boots, making it the perfect versatile – and practical – option for your wardrobe.

New Look also has a chic version that’s slightly more matte than the glossy finish of the others, with its Black Vinyl Belted Long Trench Coat, £89.99 here, which has an oversized shearling collar and matching tie belt, as well as being fully lined with the fluffy shearling-style fabric, making it the perfect cosy option for wrapping up against the colder weather.
