14 In December 1990, the General Assembly of the United Nations decided that October 1 be celebrated as the International Day of Older Persons. Earlier in 1982, the World Assembly on Aging passed the Vienna International Plan of Action on Aging. A year later, the General Assembly of the UN also ratified it. Every year this day is celebrated with different themes. This year’s theme is – Digital Equity for All Ages i.e. stake in the digital world for people of all ages.
