Rinus van Kalmthout est un des européens engagés en IndyCar. Le Néerlandais suit évidemment les performances de son compatriote, Max Verstappen, en Formule 1. Celui qui a américanisé son nom en Rinus VeeKay révèle qu’il serait intéressé à l’idée de rejoindre la F1 si l’occasion se présentait.
“Si j’avais la chance de devenir le coéquipier de Max Verstappen, ou peut-être le concurrent de Max Verstappen dans une équipe de pointe, alors j’y penserais certainement” a déclaré VeeKay.
Néanmoins, il assure qu’il se sent très bien en IndyCar, et il espère y connaître du succès dans les prochaines années. Le pilote d’Ed Carpenter Racing explique qu’il serait même ravi de passer toute sa carrière outre-Atlantique.
“Mais je ne travaille pas du tout sur la Formule 1 en ce moment. Si je peux piloter en IndyCar pendant les 20 prochaines années et me battre pour les titres, alors ma vie sera plus que complète.”
