German carmaker Volkswagen continues the series of teaser images with the new generation of the highly successful Amarok pickup truck. The German manufacturer has released new sketches for the upcoming truck. It will make its commercial debut towards the end of the year.
The new Amarok will receive a V6 TDI engine
The latest digital sketch provides a clearer picture of the side profile of a medium-sized van. You can see the massive black plastic guards on the wheel arches, as well as the extremely generous ground clearance.
The future Volkswagen Amarok appears “shod” with sturdy winter tires specific to off-road driving. Although we can’t figure out the dimensions from the sketches, we have to believe Volkswagen when they say that the new generation will be bigger than the current model.
Benefiting from an updated version of the platform Ford T6, the new Amarok will be 100 mm longer and more than 40 mm wider compared to the current generation. double is 5,254 m long and 1,954 mm wide. Basically, the new truck will benefit from an increased wheelbase for a more spacious cabin.
Like the existing version, the new model will be offered with a range of diesel engines, including a powerful V6 TDI. Depending on the market, other propulsion systems will be available, similar to those of the American “brother” Ford Ranger . The new generation Ranger will be available in some countries with a 2.3 EcoBoost four-cylinder petrol unit.
The first generation model, launched in 2010, generated sales of over 815,000 units. Its successor will be built at the Ford plant in Silverton, South Africa, part of the Ford-Volkswagen strategic alliance.
