Watch: A wonderful 120 seconds of Darwin Nunez being a chaotic genius

From the moment Darwin Nunez arrived in Merseyside, Liverpool fans were well aware that they had a chaotic genius on their hands and this hilarious compilation proves it.

The modern game seems to be becoming increasingly rigid as systems and tactics now overrule individual moments and eccentric personalities.

Luckily for us, Nunez breaks the mould of the modern game. The Uruguayan striker doesn’t play by the rules and we can’t help but be swept along in his moments of chaos.

From off-the-pitch antics to his haywire approach on the pitch, there’s rarely a dull moment with Nunez around. Even the most hardened Manchester United fan would struggle to not crack a smile when he’s about.

The 23-year-old scored in his first two outings for Liverpool with goals against Manchester City and Fulham. Everything seemed to be going swimmingly until he was promptly sent off against Crystal Palace.

What then followed was months of questioning whether Liverpool had wasted their investment on the forward as his confidence clearly took a hit. From dodgy touches to shooting blunders, nothing seemed to be falling for him.

Nunez even admitted in an interview in February that he had found some aspects of the Premier League tough to adapt to, but that Klopp recognises his strengths.

“Klopp knows my strength is my speed, running into space,” Nunez told Sky Sports. “Also, he tells me that I need to be more calm when I’m playing, and that I need to move more.

“He tells me that I need that, and that I am a player with a lot of quality. So, that’s more or less what he wants from me – and, of course, that I score goals.

“But I think the same thing is happening to me as happened to Suarez. In his second year, he tore it up. Something similar happened to me already at Benfica. The first year went very badly for me and in the second, I exploded.”

He’s managed to find a vein of form recently though and this could be the start of something special at Anfield. With five goal contributions in his last five matches, he’s now bang in form.

What Liverpool fans will be most excited about is the fact that there still seems to be another level to Nunez. He still has the natural ability to become even sharper.

His infectious personality is what makes him so unique and we wouldn’t change that for the world. Sit back and relax as you enjoy his best and most chaotic moments from the season so far.
