WhatsApp is finally getting message reactions, similar to Facebook Messenger. The feature has been in testing for some time and is now rolling out to all users. There are A LOT of reaction emojis – thumbs up, heart, applause, smiley face, shocked face and sad face.

February 2, 2022 The main purpose of these reactions is to respond to a message using an emoji, which will give us more communication alternatives and speed up the response processes within the platform. Emoji will take up less space and it will be possible to respond more quickly to a message, without the need to write a text-based response.
