Athletic Club striker Iñaki Williams has set a record in the Spanish League alone. The 27-year-old Bask played his 203rd consecutive game in La Liga against Deportivo Alavés. In doing so, he passed fellow record holder Jon Andoni Larrañaga, who played 202 consecutive games for Real Sociedad in the top Spanish league between 1987 and 1992.
Williams last missed a game in La Liga in April 2016. He was 169 basic player in his Spanish record series and acted as a substitute in 34 duels.
Williams could break his record in the won home match against Alavés (1-0) with a goal. Raúl Garcia scored just before half-time after missing a penalty earlier.
