लक्ष्मण माने यांनी पुण्यामध्ये पत्रकारांची संवाद साधत मराठा आरक्षणाबाबत आपली भूमिका स्पष्ट केली. माने म्हणाले, पूर्वी जेव्हा कुणबी समाजाला सवलती मिळत होत्या तेव्हा मराठा समाज आम्ही ९६ कुळी असल्याचं सांगत बाजूला राहिला. तेव्हा जर मराठा समाज कुणबी म्हणून समोर आला असता तर आता ओबीसींना जे २७ टक्के आरक्षण मिळते त्यापेक्षा जास्त आरक्षण मिळाले असते. आत्ता आहेत त्या आरक्षणाच्या टक्केवारीमध्ये मराठा समाजाला ओबीसीमधून आरक्षण देणे म्हणजे मोठा धोंडा बोकांडी मारून घेण्यासारखं असल्याचे माने म्हणाले.
मराठा समाजाला ओबीसीच्या ताटातलं आरक्षण न देता त्यांना स्वतंत्र वाढवून द्यावं, अशी आमची भूमिका आहे. एवढी मोठी संख्या जर ओबीसी आरक्षणात आली तर संबंध महाराष्ट्र आरक्षणामध्ये आल्यासारखं होईल. त्यामुळे मग ब्राह्मण समाजाला तर का बाहेर ठेवायचं? असा सवाल त्यांनी यावेळी उपस्थित केला.

मनोज जरांगे पाटील यांची सरसकट कुणबी प्रमाणपत्र देण्याची मागणी आहे. मग छत्रपती उदयनराजे, शिवेंद्रराजे, रामराजे आणि सरदारांची घराणी यांना देखील कुणबीचं सर्टिफिकेट देणार का असा सवाल त्यांनी केला.
आरक्षण घेणाऱ्या खालच्या जातीच्या लोकांच्या हाताखाली आम्हाला काम करावे लागतं असं जरांगे म्हणत असेल तर मग ते आरक्षणाची मागणी करून खालच्या जातीच्या लोकांसोबत का येत आहेत? माणूस एकतर घटनावादी असू शकतं किंवा मनुवादी असू शकतो. जरांगे पाटील हे मनुवादी आहेत. त्यांच्या आंदोलनामध्ये शाहू फुले आंबेडकरांचे कुठलेच फोटो दिसत नाहीत, असं माने म्हणाले.
