The WHO has called on pregnant women to take part in trials of drugs and vaccines against coronavirus

The World Health Organization believes that pregnant women should be included in trials of drugs and vaccines against coronavirus, said the director general of the organization Tedros Adanom Gebrejesus.

WHO: Omicron is particularly dangerous for the unvaccinated

“Pregnant women are not at increased risk of coronavirus infection, but if they do become infected, they are at increased risk of serious illness,” he added.

According to him, it is therefore vital that pregnant women in all countries have access to vaccines to protect their lives and those of their children.

“We call for the inclusion of pregnant women in clinical trials of new therapies and vaccines. Transmission of the virus in utero or during childbirth is extremely rare and not active viral particles found in breast milk, “said Gebreyesus.
