The Olympique Lyonnais player won the 2021 Women’s Golden Shoe rewarding the best Belgian player of the year. An award she gets for the second time in her career after 2017.
Janice Cayman (260 points) edged Tessa Wullaert (259 points) by a tiny point. “I didn’t expect this award, we thought Tessa would win the Golden Shoe, but it’s a good surprise for me. With Lyon, I’m playing at the highest level in the Champions League. We play great games I think that played to my advantage and that can perhaps explain this point of difference with Tessa”, explained the Olympique Lyonnais player before continuing. “But the objective of the season is the collective prizes and we hope to have a good Euro with the Red Flames. This is our objective for the season”, underlined the one who has 46 goals for 119 games in the national team. Already a winner in 2017, the winger got her hands on a second trophy. “I think I have progressed at all levels since the first Golden Shoe. I have the chance to evolve in a big club and to train every day with very high level players”, concluded Cayman who had won the title of vice-champion of France and reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League with OL.
