The non-parliamentary movement Progressive Slovakia (PS) is to have a dream at the turn of May and June, at which it will elect a chairman. The current head of the PS, Irena Bihari, was elected in June 2020 for a two-year term. The announcement of the nominations is expected in the spring, so far none of the PS management has confirmed it. “The announcement of candidacies for the movement’s structures can be expected around the spring. . She also added that they do not plan to change the current two-year term of party functions at the next parliament. The last time the PS had a meeting was on June 6, 2020, the next one should be before the end of two years. The movement expects it to be in early June or late May. PS Vice-Chairman Michal Truban, who was already the chairman of the movement and ran for office in 2020, said that questions about his candidacy were premature, given that the assembly had not yet been announced. Michal Šimečka, another Vice-President and newly elected Vice-President of the European Parliament, also described his candidacy as a premature issue. “We will have a dream in the late spring, until now we will gradually start talking in the movement about which of us and in what way the PS and the PS will know how to best help,” he added. The vice-chairman of the PS and the MEP Martin Hojsík stated that the PS was never a movement of one leader on whom it would be existentially dependent. It is crucial for him whether the movement will continue to be a leader in the fight against the climate crisis, in support of green energy and green innovation and just transformation, advocates of democracy, human rights or the protection of minorities. “This will be my priority if I am part of the leadership of the movement, if the members of the PS give me their confidence again,” he added. Vice-President Zora Jaur has not yet commented on the candidacy for the leadership of the movement
