Android 12L: Google hat für die erste Jahreshälfte eine neue Android-Version geplant, die sehr bald auch für Pixel-Smartphones erscheint.

Google bereitet gerade den Start der nächsten Android-Version vor, die diesmal allerdings früh im neuen Jahr veröffentlicht werden soll. Beim neuen Android 12L handelt es sich allerdings auch um ein eher kleineres Feature-Update, das trotzdem viele Verbesserungen für „Large screens“ mitbringt. Damit sind Tablets, Foldables und Chromebooks mit Google Play Store gemeint. Das Update kommt aber auch für die ganz normalen Pixel-Handys.
Android 12L kommt wahrscheinlich im nächsten Monat
Jetzt kommt jedenfalls etwas mehr Lichts ins Dunkel, wann Android 12L in finaler Version erscheinen könnte. Dafür kommen derzeit wohl zwei Tage ganz konkret infrage. Durch einen anderen Leak ist bekannt geworden, dass Google für den 14. März eine neue Vorgabe im Bereich von Material You umsetzen möchte, die man im Zuge mit dem Android 12L Release einführt.

Android 12L als Feature-Drop?
Ein anderer potenzieller Tag ist der 7. März, der erste Montag des Monats. Üblicherweise veröffentlicht Google an diesem Tag immer das neue Sicherheitsupdate. Im März ist aber wohl der nächste Feature-Drop der Pixel-Reihe dran, der diesmal eben das Upgrade auf Android 12L bedeuten könnte. Das wären zwei Fliegen mit einer Klappe, wie die Kollegen meinen.
Hmm, though, Google could kill two birds with one stone and release the 12L update for Pixels as a Pixel Feature Drop. If so, then March 7 (the first Monday of March) could be the date of the release (assuming the update for Pixels lands on the same day as the source code drop).

Bislang ist kaum bekannt, welche Neuerungen das neue Android 12L für normale Smartphones mitbringen könnte. Es ist ja nicht so, dass Google im Vorfeld große Bekanntmachungen veröffentlicht. Bislang ist die Beta zwar für Pixel-Handys erschienen, aber nicht fürs Pixel 6. Das könnte da leider wieder für Verspätungen sorgen.
