Hydro Fehervar AV19 was able to play its first game in 2022 later than hoped. Due to medical precautions , all previously planned games of the Hungarians had to be postponed. They promptly won 4:0 at HC TIWAG Innsbruck – Die Haie. In the second duel of the season between the two teams, it was the second clear success of the new second in the table, with goalkeeper Daniel Kornakker celebrating a shutout for the second time this season.
For the “Haie” from Innsbruck it was only the second assignment in this calendar year. On January 4th, they also lost 4-1 to HCB Südtirol Alperia at home. The eleventh in the table also had little to oppose against Fehérvár. Although they started the game on an equal footing, the Hungarians took control of the game from the second third at the latest. The 1:0 of the guests fell in the first third. Ironically, when the “Haie” were outnumbered, Braeden Shaw scored the lead (14′).
In the second half of the game, AVS added three goals. Istvan Terbocs made it 2-0 in the 24th minute before Balint Magosi made it 3-0 in the 30th minute. Andrew Sarauer made the final decision in the 37th minute. No further goals were scored in the final third and so Daniel Kornakker celebrated his second shutout of the season. The 25-year-old kept his first clean sheet against Linz on December 5th. In the second duel of the season between the two teams, it was the second clear win for Fehérvár, who also won 4-1 in Innsbruck on October 15.
