Get Fit With Apple: AI-Based Health Coach and More Health Features on the Horizon

|

Apple is developing new health and wellness features that may involve users interacting with an AI-based health coach to receive various recommendations and track their emotions with a health tracker. Let’s jump in and learn more!

Apple’s AI-Based Coaching Service in the Works

According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is developing a new coaching service internally dubbed “Quartz” that aims to keep users motivated to exercise, improve their eating habits, and fix their sleep schedules.

Apple Is Bringing an AI Health Coach & More Health Features

The coaching service will work by collecting data from the user’s Apple Watch and then using AI to create personalized coaching programs for each user.

The coaching service, like many of Apple’s other services, will be paid and subscription-based. Gurman also claims that the service will be available in its own app.

Health App Is Getting Expanded to the iPad

In the near future, Apple intends to release an iPad version of the health app. The app is expected to arrive with the iPadOS 17 update later this year.

Apple is working on adding functionality to its health app, such as an emotion tracker that will let users record their emotions as they reflect on their day, and then analyze the data over time. Apple, however, is betting on the iPhone’s ability to analyze a user’s tone of voice and text to deduce how they’re feeling in the near future.

Tools for managing a user’s vision are also being developed, and these can be used to track conditions like nearsightedness.

Apple Is Bringing an AI Health Coach & More Health Features

According to the report, Apple plans to unveil the new iPad app, as well as tools for managing emotion and vision, at its annual Worldwide Developers Conference in June. The coaching service, however, will not be announced this year.

Apple’s commitment to the health and wellness category also extends to its highly anticipated mixed-reality headsetwhich is expected to be unveiled in June. According to reports, the company is working on a feature that will allow users to meditate while wearing the headset, and an optimized version of Apple’s Fitness+ workout service for the headset is also in the works.

A New Journaling App Could Be Coming This Year

Apple also intends to release a journaling app later this year. According to those familiar with the matter, the app is not intended to be a health feature, and Apple would not position it as such.

Instead, the app is intended to supplement the company’s Find My service and other location-based features. The app can function as a “social feature” by allowing users to document their daily routines, such as their commute to work.

Apple is introducing a slew of new features that will undoubtedly boost its health and wellness offerings. However, keep in mind that all of the services are still in the works, and plans may face setbacks or be canceled entirely. Apple is expected to reveal more details at its upcoming WWDC 2023 event.
