Google wants to prevent climate deniers from making advertising money

In new guidelines for advertisers, publishers, and people making YouTube videos, Google warns that they will ban monetization of content that violates the “well-established scientific consensus on its existence and the causes “of climate change,” the company said in a statement. the climate is warming, and claims that deny that greenhouse gas emissions and human activity contribute to climate change, writes Google.

Google says they should look at the context in which the claims are made, and they want to distinguish between content that states that such claims are true and content that deals with or discusses such claims.

The guidelines will enter into force in November.
