Inside Harry and Meghan’s ‘private island plans’ after Frogmore eviction

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly looking to purchase a second property after the news broke that King Charles III asked them to vacate their previous digs, Frogmore Cottage in Windsor.

While still keeping their base in LA, it’s been rumoured the couple are looking to buy in a different country, with Harry apparently being drawn toward a private island somewhere.

It was just last week that Harry’s father asked the pair to leave their British home, along with removing all of their belongings to make space for various members of the royal family.

(After speculation that the cottage was being made available for Prince Andrew under his brother’s wishes, OK! exclusively revealed that Princess Eugenie was handed the keys two weeks ago.)

Regardless of who now resides in the four bedroom Grade-II listed house, the Sussexes haven’t actually lived there since 2020 since they stepped down as senior serving royals.

Now, they reside in a Californian mansion (in an area popular with celebs, including Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom), with their two young children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.

However, due to Harry’s explosive memoir, Spare, the couple’s popularity has declined rapidly in the states, too. Which gives an indication as to why they’re looking to move.

A recent poll by Redfiled & Wilton for Newsweek revealed that the pair are less popular than Harry’s disgraced uncle, Prince Andrew.

Conducted on 19th February, it stated Harry was disliked by 42% of Americans and Meghan was liked by just 27%.

Speaking to Heat, a source explained: “The situation is rapidly becoming uncomfortable to the point of untenable.”

“There are talks of keeping base in LA and heading somewhere new like Canada, South Africa or one of the other countries where they have more popularity and public sympathy.”

“There’s money to be made abroad and it fits their vision of global success.”

“Harry loved the idea of living in a natural and eco-friendly environment – he’s pushing hard to go down the private island route.”

The source also revealed that Harry and Meghan are welcoming the distractions that come with purchasing a new property. Especially amid the current unrest.

They added that they’re looking at the situation as a chance to take advantage of their success, instead of running away from all of the drama.

In the midst of the fractured relations, King Charles III’s coronation is just around the corner.

And while the couple have confirmed they’ve been invited to the 6th May ceremony, it’s unclear as to whether they’ll actually make the trip over to the UK.
