Mace veteran joins Gleeds

Mason joins after over 20 years at Mace where he held the position of managing director and was instrumental in establishing its cost consultancy business in 2004.

Mason will work alongside Gleeds’ UK regional director, Paul Sweeney, to grow and lead the London operation.

Douglas McCormick, group executive director, said, “Steven brings enormous experience of running a global business.

“I couldn’t be happier to have someone of his character join our business – a real natural leader who oozes personality, passion and dedication, and who will no doubt help us make some meaningful headway in London.”

Mason’s immediate goals will focus on opportunities within the public sector.

He has spent over 35 years as a practising surveyor having worked extensively in London and the southeast, working across a range of sectors, including new build, refurbishment, and alterations to both historic and modern residential and commercial buildings for various public sector and private clients.

Mason has worked on prestigious projects like the London 2012 Aquatics Centre, British Land’s 5 Broadgate scheme, and the UBS headquarters building in the Square Mile.

He said, “After spending such a large part of my career at Mace, I wanted to join an organisation that is an established industry leader, but one whose growth and success I felt that I could contribute to. Gleeds offers me that opportunity and shares the values, personality and ambition that I have embedded within me from my time at Mace.

“Gleeds will provide me with a perfect platform for the next stage of my career and I am delighted to have the opportunity to support the business in achieving its future goals and growth plans.”
