announced Microsoft
Acquisition of Activision Blizzard, the US game development company, for $68.7 billion, as its latest acquisition of the gaming sector. The company will pay the value of the transaction in full in cash, according to its statement, at $95 per share – being a publicly listed company on the NASDAQ stock exchange. The acquisition deal is one of the largest in this sector at all, but it will help Microsoft to strengthen its position in the gaming sector as a fierce competitor to Sony, and under this deal it will provide more games to the Game Pass cloud service, especially since many famous games will become owned by it. Activision Blizzard owns game development studios in many countries around the world and has more than 10,000 employees, and has previously developed famous games, most notably Call of Duty, World of Warcraft, Candy Crush, Overwatch, Diablo, and other popular games.
