„Das ist eine Zäsur“ – Wie es nach dem Meuthen-Austritt in der AfD weitergeht
Bei Jörg Meuthens Gegnern sorgt der Austritt des AfD-Chefs für Genugtuung. Für die Partei ist er dennoch ein Problem. Es herrscht Unruhe.

Immer wieder äußerte sich Meuthen in letzter Zeit kritisch über die eigene Partei.
Berlin Manchmal sagt Jörg Meuthen noch „wir“, wenn er die AfD meint. Doch dann korrigiert er sich. Die rechte Partei und er – das ist nun Geschichte. „Ich habe mich zunehmend fremdgeschämt und gemerkt, ich kann diese Partei nicht mehr unterstützen – geschweige denn für sie werben“, sagt Meuthen am Telefon. Seine Karriere als AfD-Chef endete am vergangenen Freitag mit seinem Austritt. Er attestierte der Partei „ganz klar totalitäre Anklänge“.
Bereits kurz danach bemühten sich seine Gegner in der chronisch zerstrittenen Partei, Meuthens Abgang als etwas Positives darzustellen. Sein bisheriger Co-Parteichef Tino Chrupalla erklärte im Fernsehen: „Jörg Meuthen hat die Spaltung der AfD beendet.“
Er selbst werde nun die Partei „zusammenführen, zusammenhalten“. AfD-Vize Stephan Brandner aus Thüringen twitterte am Freitag von einer „entspannten, ja sogar in Zügen heiteren Bundesvorstandssitzung“.
