I speak for myself, but Karate Kid is easily one of the movies I’ve seen the most in my life, and that of course, from time to time, I have to go see it again, not only to put my eyes on this masterpiece again, but also to remember the many times I tried to stick the old ‘Crane Kick’ in my older brother’s face.
Well, it is important to point out that Karate Kid originally debuted in the distant year of 1984. With Cobra Kai debuting , in the now defunct ‘YouTube Originals’ project, in the year 2018.
Thus, we are talking about a time span of 34 years between the original work and the series, which now, we all love it.
Why so long? Well… A lot had to happen to give rise to to the imagination of Cobra Kai creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. That said, some of these things , well, they were purely jokes, which over time began to make some sense in the heads of these Hollywood veterans, who of course are also big fans of the original movie saga.
But let’s go by parts.
Cobra Kai is a tremendous success! But do you know how it started!?
Cobra Kai is, nowadays, a simply brutal hit at Netflix, the queen of content streaming platforms. But in reality, it was not here that the project was born. The series that comes to tell what happened after the original saga of films, was first welcomed by YouTube, for its big bet in the world of series and films, the “YouTube Originals”.
However, by the time YouTube accepted the project, a lot of work had already been done to bring Cobra Kai to life. But probably what you don’t know is where the seed came from to give life to all this.
Well, the joke started in How i Met Your Mother! Because Barney firmly believed that William Zabka was the protagonist of the original film. Yes, HIMYM gave birth to Cobra Kai! (As you can see below!) But there was the help of another video.
After How i Met Your Mother set the wheels in motion, we had the rise of a very interesting video on YouTube. Where again we are based on the same story, that Daniel is after all the Bully. Playing in all parts of the 1984 movie.
