SÃO PAULO – Pharmaceutical Pfizer said this Friday which hopes to start delivering doses of its Covid-19 vaccine to the Brazilian government in January.
“ Pfizer is working with the government to define the steps for the supply of vaccines against Covid-19 for immunization of the age group from 5 to 11 years old, with estimated delivery starting in January 2022”, the company said in a statement.The National Health Surveillance Agency (Anvisa) has approved the use of Pfizer’s vaccine against Covid in children aged 5 to 11 years old on December 16th.
The Ministry of Health, however, in an unusual measure, has already that it is legally up to Anvisa to attest to the safety and efficacy of vaccines, decided to hold a public consultation on the matter and the holder of the portfolio, Marcelo Queiroga said this week that the number of children killed by the pandemic in Brazil does not justify the urgency of starting immunization in this age group.
