Saint-Maximin, 24, produced a wonderful display as Newcastle won for a second successive Premier League match. While the Frenchman did not score, he was crucial in the win – laying on an assist for the second goal.
Jamaal Lascelles’ own goal was immediately cancelled out when Mason Holgate inadvertently put through his own net. But in the second half, it was Eddie Howe’s side that were dominant, eventually winning 3-1.
The effervescent Saint-Maximin got to the byline and stood a ball up, finding its way to Ryan Fraser – who scored. A third came in the form of Kieran Trippier, the England defender curling a wonderful free-kick in.
