Sesau confirms 4 cases of the Ômicron variant in Vilhena

The State Health Department (Sesau) in partnership with the Central Public Health Laboratory of Rondônia (Lacen) and the Oswaldo Cruz Foundation (Fiocruz), recorded 51 cases of the Ômicron variant of the coronavirus in 9 municipalities in Rondônia. Patients are aged between 8 and 64 years and are being monitored by the State Health Surveillance Agency (Agevisa) and by municipal surveillance.

The cases registered in the municipalities are: 1 woman in Guajará ; 30 people in Porto Velho, 21 women, 8 men and 1 girl; 1 man in Candeias; 1 boy in Jaru; 1 woman in Alta Floresta, 5 people in Presidente Médici, 4 women and 1 man; 7 people in Cerejeiras, 3 women and 4 men; 1 man in Seringueiras and 4 people in Vilhena, 1 woman and 3 men.

The variant has already been identified in more than 17 Brazilian states. The most common symptoms are: nasal discharge, headache, fatigue (mild or severe), sneezing and sore throat. The Government is taking measures to mitigate the contagion, raising awareness and reinforcing the population with prevention with masks, gel alcohol, vaccinations and avoiding agglomerations.

With the advancement of the virus, it is happening the call for health professionals to expand ICU beds in State Public Units, the Government of Rondônia invites candidates classified in Sesau’s selection process. Those summoned must act in the face of the emergency of the pandemic resulting from the covid-19 and Influenza.

The Secretary of State for Health, Fernando Máximo emphasizes the importance of completing the immunization cycle. “It is worth remembering that the transmission and contagion power of Ômicron is very high. It is extremely important that we get vaccinated in order to complete the vaccine cycle with the 2nd and 3rd dose, because only then will we be immune and free from this disease that has already claimed many victims”, concludes the secretary.
