NOT the variant Mu virus, which is crowded, is suspected to be immune to natural antibodies from the body and antibodies from the Covid-19 vaccine. Now has reappeared a new variant of the virus, R1 which makes the world community anxious.
This R1 variant itself was first identified by the World Health Organization (WHO) earlier this year, January 2021 to be exact. The latest development is now known to have spread to several regions in the United States.
Regarding the R1 variant, Prof. Wiku, Spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force as well as Expert Coordinator and Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19, said that until now the virus is still under surveillance.
“Currently the R1 variant is still classified as an under monitoring variant from WHO, so it needs to be monitored further as a precautionary principle,” said Prof. Wiku in a live broadcast of the Development of Handling Covid-19 in Indonesia.
He added that the emergence of new variants of the virus that causes Covid-19 infection is actually a reminder or a reminder that the Covid-19 disease has not disappeared from the face of the earth. Despite the fact, good trends such as the decline in the number of positive cases, the decline in the death rate due to Covid-19, and an increase in the recovery rate are occurring in Indonesia.
“The reappearance of a new variant should be a reminder to all of us that Covid-19 has not completely disappeared from this world. Therefore, the wisest attitude we can take is to consistently carry out health protocols in all aspects of life without having to be excessively afraid,” he concluded briefly.
