Personal Trainer Explains: Why Do Many Men Wear Leggings Under Shorts When Exercising?

Whether you choose long or short pants for sports usually depends on the weather.

“Originally it was advertised that wearing compression underwear has a performance-enhancing effect should have an effect. This assumption didn’t really catch on,” says the personal trainer.

The reason for this is that the compression strength of the Sports leggings is not strong enough and therefore cannot achieve any performance-enhancing effects.

For some, wearing long leggings underneath is simply a matter of the mind: A more comfortable fit can lead to more concentration during training.

However, Mashagh emphasizes that compression underwear makes sense in other sports can.

Increased performance thanks to long pants?

In other sports, compression pants can support athletes’ performance. Nima Mashagh explains that there are so-called squat suits, which are particularly tight and stable and are similar to wetsuits. These are mainly used in the field of powerlifting and can increase performance.

“There are also sports such as athletics or cycling with leggings that have effects in relation to aerodynamics and friction achieve”, explains the coach.

Conclusion:
